You can fint plenty of building materials at a junkyard or a recycle-station. If you and your team is lucky, the junk containers will be full and you can make several runs to collect materials for weapons or buildings. Some if the items will be junk, but you will probably find more usefull items then junk in an apocalypse.
If you have a map over the area make sure to plan the run and make backup routes. Have a plan before you make the run, if you get lost or have to run you will lose important calories,
A highway with abandoned cars might hold some treasures, food, water, medical supplies or clothes. But be careful, you will probably find a few zombies stuck in some of the cars or lurking under the car.
So walk up to the car slow and carefully and make sure it's empty inside and outside before you try to open it and search it.
A shopping mall will be your new best friend, they will be full with usefull supplies. But keep in mind that you might not be the first survivours to find it, it may be looted or host a survivour party or zombies. Keep your guard.
If you find other survivours inside the mall, ask them if they want to join forces. If they are hostile against you be prepared for combat. If they point a gun agains you or something and they outgun/outnumber you try to follow their instructions and avoid been killed. Speak clear and calm and ask if they might spare some resources, if they say no and let you leave then accept that and leave.
A more brutal way would be to attack their base, come back later when they have lowerd their guard. But try to avoid killing other humans, try instead to make them join you or you join them. Stay strong together and it will open more doors to use in your atempt to survive.

Weapons
As the zombie movies tells us, shoot them in the head or destroy the brain. The problem is weapons. This guide is made to match the Swedish gun and weapon laws and they are extremely hard, it's almost impossible to get a permit for a gun.
If you have handguns or rifles only use them when there is no other way, conserve your ammo, it might be hard to replace it. And try to find ear protections you do not want to be deaf durning a zombie apocalypse.
Try also to keep atleast three knives you can grab without any problem, if your main weapon breaks or you drops it you will always have a backup. Keep the knives i difrent places, low, medium and high on your body to make sure you can grab one even if you are corned.

Homemade weapons
To be able to make your own tools and weapon is essential in survival. You will find a lot of materials you can use to make your own armoury.
Take a long kitchen knife and tape it to a broomstick and viola you have a spear, or you just use the knife as it is.
But to avoud close combat i would recommend the spear.
Spear: Take a regular knife and use tape or string to make it stay still at the pole. If you want you can use glue with the tape or string to make it harder and stronger. The lenght of the pole is up to you to decide, to long will make it hard to controll and to short will make it more like a sword.
Distancekeeper: My own little "invention". I came up with the idea to keep the zombies as a distance so a team member would use a spear to finish it off.
Use a pole and on the top you place a flat board to press against the zombie to hold the distance. You can combine it with a spear to make it stick to the zombie and some stickt at the back (ainst you) to make is sturdier. Make it a bit shorter then your spear so your team can use a spear without any problems.
Mace: Take a baseball bat and stick a few nails or razor wire to it, this will mostly deal blunt damage to the zombie but the nails or razor wire may help you crack the skull so you need to hit it less.
Firebomb/molotov: Gas, alcohol or any other flamable liquid, pour it in a glas bottle and add a little oil to make is sticky. Then you adda rag to and put down the opening so half is in the mixture and half in the open. Then it's just to lit the rag and throw.
Bow: Take a tough piece of wood or a hard plastic tube, attach a very durable rope for best performance on both ends so the pipe or the wood is bent, never release the sting without an arrow.
Arrows: Making arrows with feathers will be very difficult, but to get it stuck, it's just taking a thick feather, cut it to the shape you want, and makes three. Then use glue to attach them on the tail of wood or plastic. Do you have a wooden arrow, you can harden the tip in fire, flatten a soda can and make a small split in the arrow and place the arrowhead between, then use a string and glue to make sure the arrowhead will stay at the arrow when you fire it. If you have a pipe as arrow, you can do the same except that the hard tip of the fire.
Shields: Plexiglas shields are ideal if you and others want to have more protection then just from your clothes, or if you do not have clothes that grants you good protection, take regular plexiglass and attach two straps so that it can easily be worn and taken off. Use the shape you want to use on it. Keep in mind that a big shield is heavy and a small one might give the same amount of protection.
Sling: Take a thin leather band, then take a wider piece of leather or fabric and thread through half the small leather band then you can form a small bowl in the middle of the band. Then you can use rocks in the bag and spin the sling over your head, it's hard to learn to hit with a sling but once you hit it can do really nasty injuries.
Gate lock: A simple yet clever idea, take two snap hooks and attach them to each end of a chain. The chain should not be more than 2-3 dm. With this simple lock, you can close a gate without a lock. However, the gate or door must have a place where you can put the hooks. Is it an ordinary wooden door, you have nowhere to put the two snap hooks.

Medical care
If someone gets hurt you need to take care of it quickly, sew all the deep wounds and wash them carefully, if the person has been bitten by a zombie, you should lock him/her up to see if you become a zombie, if nothing happens, you can release the person again. If the person becomes a zombie the head should be cut off and burned the body to be on the safe side.

Doess a person get bitten on the hand, arm or leg, you can try to amputate the limb as fast as you can, it could be that the person manages to fight the virus. However, it is a very risky move, the person can die of shock or blood loss.
Do you have your bag with the equipment you may have enough painkillers and other medications, it can help a lot. Broken bones are must be treaten fast, take a bandage and two pieces of wood (same length) and attach to opposite sides together with bandages wrapped tightly so that the bone does not move.
Loss of body parts is a severe wound and must be attended quickly. You can stop the bleeding with a tourniquet or by burning (make sure that if you will burn the wound shut that the person have the strengh or he/she will die from the shock), take a knife or other metal and heat it in the fire so it's really hot, then place the hot metal against the wound to stop the blood flow. This variant is very painful so make sure the person gets painkiller and place the burned wound in cold water for some time.
Keep your camp clean, if it is dirty, common diseases spread and it will only cause you to lose valuable time.
